The Lee Street Community Center is located at 211 Lee Street.  The Birdhouse Headquarters is located at 112 Main Street.

The Lee Street Community Center's
TURNING POINT  is a civil rights park on Main Street in Elaine.  The theme is "Recognizing the Past with Hope for the Future, 1919- 2019 and Beyond." The park features park musical instruments and focuses on the  aftermath of  racial turmoil that resulted in the deaths of over 200 African Americans. With the work of Scipio Jones, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the 14th Amendment gave all
citizens due process of the law.

Elaine was once a thriving town in the Mississippi River Delta. There were five grocery stores, restaurants, a movie theater, etc.
It is now a struggling town in the poorest county of Arkansas.

Birdhouses continue to go up in Elaine.

Schools closed  in 2006 and the declining town suffered even more.  After a long bus ride, students return home to few positive activities.
The Lee Street Community Center has activities for families
   and
activities for the whole community downtown. Please consider a donation to keep the center and park open. Their affect in Elaine continues to grow.

We have four plastic gourd houses made for purple martins.  We hope the martins will eat lots of mosquitoes outside our back door.
